Decloner looks for duplicate files in the folders you choose and all contained folders within those folders. You can also add multiple iPhoto and Aperture libraries to the list of locations to scan.
To add folders or iPhoto/Aperture libraries to the list of scan locations
- Click the plus button below the folder list and choose one or more folders, iPhoto or Aperture libraries using the standard File Open panel.
- Hold down ⌘ while clicking to select multiple items.
- Press ⌘O and select folders or iPhoto/Aperture libraries using the standard File Open panel.
- Drag and drop folders or iPhoto/Aperture libraries from Finder onto the folder list.
To remove items from the list of scan locations
- Select one or more items in the list and press the Delete key ⌫.
- Hold down ⌘ while clicking to select multiple items.
The order of scan locations affects how Decloner chooses which files to keep and which to remove. The higher the scan location is in the list, the more important are the files contained in it. In each group of duplicates Decloner will prefer (rank higher) files coming from higher-ranked locations in the list of scan locations.
To rearrange scan locations:
- Select a location in the list and click the ↑ or ↓ buttons on the left of the list.
- Select a location in the list and move it up/down by pressing ⌥⌘↑ or ⌥⌘↓
- Select a location in the list and choose Source→Move Up or Source→Move Down from the menu.
- Drag and drop scan locations in the list using the mouse.
Decloner will remember the locations you choose across launches.
The default location is your home folder.
If the location you chose earlier is no longer available, Decloner removes it from the list.
If you remove a folder or iPhoto/Aperture library from the list of scan locations, Decloner will remove files that belong to that folder or library from the scan results and staging area.
If you have bought Decloner on the Mac App Store
- Decloner will gray out any iPhoto or Aperture library in the list of scan locations that is different from the library currently active in iPhoto or Aperture. You will still be able to scan such libraries, but not delete duplicates from them. To delete duplicates in an inactive library, you first have to switch to that library in iPhoto or Aperture.
